Client result: $40k-$80k yearly revenue added with one 5 minute technique
Hey everyone,
Thought I would share a basic but effective technique which I implemented with an e-commerce client which is worth conservatively $40,000-$80,000 in revenue this year assuming no further optimisation.
If you send out a promotional offer to your database – you can expect anywhere from say 10%-30% to open it usually – depending on whether they like you, how much you spam / don’t spam them etc.
That means that 70%-90% of your database will never open that email – and consequently click through or buy.
What you want to do is send a second email to all the ‘non-openers’.
Keep the body of the email the same, just change the subject line.
Test a headline that is different – or even the opposite – of the first one you sent, since they already ignored that style.
For ideas on proven headlines – I’d recommend googling ‘Headline Hacks’, you can find lots of tested headline formulas that will help if you don’t know much / anything about copywriting.
This means you can have a second bite at the cherry – especially useful when you’ve sent out a successful email promotion and want to squeeze as much value out of it as possible.
For those who are concerned about spamming their subscribers – the ones who really don’t like it will unsubscribe anyway 99% of the time and for those who don’t open either email it’s just 2 lines in their inbox.
Don’t be shy about using this technique if you have some genuinely great offers going out.
Marketing can be very complex and confusing for many – but often there are simple changes that can create almost immediate commercial wins in your business.
Several of these little changes add up to big % increases in revenue over the year.
As they say, little hinges swing big doors.
