Warren Buffet once said “Games are won by players who focus on the playing field –- not by those whose eyes are glued to the scoreboard.”
I love this quote.
A few thoughts on this below.
Worrying about how much money you have or don’t have doesn’t change the number – I’ve been north of $60,000 in debt before.
Things changed when I got clear about the exact debt, and focussed on planting the seeds for future revenue.
Be solution focussed.
Who honestly cares how bad the problem is.
Get clear on the extent of the problem and invest your effort and energy in working your way out.
To this day, I’m still blown away with how fast things turned around.
The scoreboard is just a result – it’s the output from your input.
What are your inputs?
Focus on sowing seeds instead of worrying about the lack of anything to harvest.
Being determined alone is not enough.
When two sports team play each other, they are both determined to win.
It’s very important, but not the full equation.
The people that win are those who implement their strategy, tactics and adjust throughout the game to their opponent.
If there’s any underwhelming part of your business right now, rather than bemoaning the result – review your inputs.
What actions are you taking to get that result?
Those current actions obviously aren’t working.
Tweak those actions and see if that result improves or declines.
Keep iterating and the scoreboard will start to look better.
There’s no better time than today to rip in.
Have a great week,
Ray
