Ever read an article that had a massive impact on you?
There’s not many of them.
But they do exist.
I read one recently that had a profound effect on me.
And I don’t say that lightly.
There’s a tonne of crap articles out there.
But, for whatever reason..
I thought about the concept of the article probably hundreds of times since.
So what was the concept?
It was an article by the people from ‘WaitButWhy’.
On the shortness of life.
So the below is your life in years, represented with one diamond for each year of life.
This can either be extremely motivating or extremely depressing, depending on how you look at it.
Check it out:
So if you were 30 right now, your life would look like this:
Then, I started to think about the other people in my life.
I thought about my old man.
He turns 70 in a few weeks, so his ‘life diagram’ would look like this:
This was kind of sad.
To think that we only get to have maybe 20 more summers together.
20 more birthdays.
But it can only get you depressed for so long before you realise how fricken short life actually is.
You’re going to (not) wake up one day and it’ll all be over.
So what are you going to do about this?
Will you still go back to wasting a few hours every day scrolling through mindless shit on Facebook?
Or will you decide to use this thing we’ve all been given called life?
Hope this has given you something to think about.
My goal in sending you this is not to pressure you to never procrastinate again.
That’s unrealistic.
But to help you realise, that this chance you get to build your business will eventually end.
It may also inspire those of you who are workaholics to spend those extra five minutes with your kid.
Or make that phone call to your parents.
Have a great week,
Ray
