I work with 30-40 business owners per week on their business.
One thing I notice when I first start working with them, is that some of them naturally aren’t where they’d like to be in business.
When we do a time audit, it’s pretty obvious why.
I ask them all about their goals.
I ask them all about their typical week at the moment.
And literally 90%+ of their time is doing stuff that won’t get them directly or indirectly to their goals.
The penny drops for them immediately.
I find it interesting how many people wonder why they haven’t achieved what they want in life yet don’t do anything during the week to get them closer to that goal.
It seems so obvious, but barely anyone does it.
Throughout many of these conversations I hear the passion.
I hear how bad they want it.
I hear the story of why it’s so important.
But if your actions throughout the week aren’t aligned with small parts of the big goals, then it counts for nothing.
Action is all that counts at the end of the day.
I literally have a calendar reminder which goes off every night at 8:30pm that asks me what I did today to get me closer to my goals.
It’s easy to get caught up in the day to day stuff.
But if you let yourself get consumed by that, you’re gonna wake up in 10, 20 years and wonder what the fuck happened.
So what’s the next step?
I would start with setting aside one half-day in the next fortnight to review everything you’ve done in the last month.
Compare your goals with what you are actually doing.
It’ll make all the difference.
